Valuation
Professional valuation on gemmological criteria. For estates, insurance, sale or division.
Who carries out the valuation?
We examine the characteristics of the stone and study the information available before giving a valuation. If an independent analysis is needed, we will explain the possible steps.
In which cases?
Whether it is for an estate, a division between heirs, insurance or a sale, having your stone valued helps you better understand its worth. We guide you through this process with a reasoned valuation, tailored to your situation.
Valuation and certificate: two different things
A valuation gives an appraisal of a stone's worth at a given moment. A laboratory certificate describes the characteristics of the stone, but does not set its selling price. If needed, we can arrange an analysis with an independent laboratory.
How does it work?
You share with us the information you have, a photo, a certificate if there is one, the context; we analyse these elements and explain the options open to you. If necessary, a laboratory analysis can be arranged.
After studying these elements, we arrange an examination by appointment, at our Geneva offices, at your home or on your premises, as we agree.
How long does it take?
For a valuation without certification, allow about five to seven working days. Longer lead times may apply if a laboratory analysis is requested.
A valuation without a laboratory normally requires the stone to be left with Furatena for at least five working days.
What does it cost?
The fee for a valuation generally ranges from 80 to 300 CHF per stone, depending on its characteristics and the work required. If you also wish to obtain a certificate from an independent laboratory, its cost will be communicated to you separately, before any step is taken.
